My theory: Amon (who was known as Yukon at one point) threatened Republic City 42 years before the start of "Korra." I believe he was a bender, and from his name, a water bender. When a confrontation between Aang and Yukon ensued, Aang took his bending away. Yukon escaped from being imprisoned, and Aang made the mistake of believing that with no bending, Yukon could not hurt anyone anymore. After all, former Fire Lord Ozai had never hurt anyone after his bending had been taken away. However, Yukon was furious, and tried to understand how his bending was taken away. In the process, he went to the spirit world, where I believe he met Koh, who gave him the ability to take other people's bending away. If he couldn't bend, neither could anyone else, especially the Avatar.
As for what happened to Zuko's mom... I have no idea! Bryan and Mike are TROLLS!

We are well aware that most of the people from the original series had kids, Toph, Aang, Katara, Zuka (said to have a daughter), etc. However, we don't know about Sokka. He was paired with Suki, so we know that it would be logical for him to have children. Sokka also appeared in Korra's first flashback to the scene in which Aang and Toph are present (as adults).
There is potential for Sokka or his children (this is alluding to Amon being one of his children) to be in touch with the spirit world as I believe it was Yui? Became the moon spirit, and Sokka had a thing with her. Assuming Sokka was killed when Aang dealt with the incident 40 years ago (or however long it was), and potentially sokka's children also killed...or thought to be killed, could allude to something like this.
I don't know, I was listening to a podcast that had some other interesting ideas as well.

But i dont think hes the same person who threatened Republic city all those years ago, he'd have to be at least 65 and his hands are too...nonwrinkly... i think hes younger
By the way, Pakku was close to 80 and his hands were not very wrinkly. How do I know he was close to 80? Kanna was in the Southern Water Tribe when the raids started 60 years before Aang was released from the iceberg. She had to be at least 16 at the time, and Pakku was older then her. So Amon still could be Yukon.
Still doesn't mean that he is of course.
